What Are You Thankful For Today?

And How Abut the Rest of the Year?

Thankfulness is one of those things that has never been at the top of my mind. But I wanted to jot a few things down here.  Thankful is less a thought process than a practice.  This is what I have to ask myself.

What do I want to practice being thankful for?  Every day, not just today. Here are a few things that come to mind.

I am thankful for having the love of my life being part of my life.

I am thankful for being above ground, at least for today.

I am thankful for many years of great fortune in health, even though I spent many years doing whatever the opposite is of earning it.

And …

For opportunities to meet the people I have met, thought the thoughts I have thought, felt what I have felt.

For being able to be warm and fed, and being saddened knowing that many aren’t and should be.

For having a brain mind that has served me well, and may have a few more miles on it.

For the chance to learn many things even though many I never used.

For the chance to help people even at their worst.

For great books, great film, great art, and great music.

For grand memories and grand expectations.

And for the great fortune to live in interesting times.
