We all want to be motivated to do what needs to be done. We want motivation to click for us.
But we are distracted.
There are too many things to do, too many choices. We are overwhelmed, frustrated, and flummoxed.
We think we have to somehow manage time better. What we fail to realize is that there is not such thing.
Time Management Doesn’t Exist in the Real World
We all have the same amount of time – 60 second minutes, 60 minute hours, 24 hour days, 168 hours each week.
What really exists is event management. Stuff we gotta do management.
Money we may be able to manage. The amount of money we have as a resource changes as time marches on. Time just marches on, staying the same, seeming different. Money is finite; time if finite in a different way. It seems like what matters is how we spend it. In a way that is correct, but in a bigger way it is off kilter. What matters is with what we choose to fill it.
We can’t do everything. When we try, then everything suffers. Motivation suffers. Enthusiasm suffers. We must make choices.
In a big way, it is what we are able to say no to that allows us to do what is important. By saying no to the right things we are able to stay true to our purpose in life.
To what do you say yes?
